Based on archaeological evidence, it is possibly the oldest surviving Indian dance form. It started as a temple dance tradition and is perhaps the most advanced and evolved form.
It consists of three major aspects: rhythmic dance movements, art of expression in gestures, poses and mime and a combination of two. You have heard of Bollywood dance! Bollywood dance is loved by a lot of people as it is fun, colorful and beautiful. Many Bollywood movements have their origins in Bharata Natyam.
In this dance camp, kids will learn head and hand gestures. These gestures formulate the dance. They will also learn an introductory salutation, 'Namaskar', basic steps combined with a song and storytelling. It will be a fun filled afternoon. Kids should come in comfortable clothing so that they can move freely.
